Wintec Filemate SolidGo Silver 60GB SSD

E-mail Print
User Rating: / 6PoorBest
Wintec Filemate SolidGo Silver 60GB SSDThe new Silver series SolidGo drive we will take a look at today is based on the J-Micron JMF602 controller. Wintec wanted the drive to be affordable so this is the reasoning for using the controller. The numbers that we see from this unit is moderate at best but well enough for a entry level drive. According to Wintec the drive has a read/write of 160MB's and 90MB/s respectfully. This numbers are slightly better than the new Kingston V boot drive we are seeing a lot of reviews on. But in the case of the Wintec model you get 20 more gigs.

Apacer A7 Turbo A7202 64GB Solid State Drive

User Rating: / 1PoorBest
A7 Turbo SSD A7202 To remedy the price shock of SSD drives you have several routes in which you can take. The first one is to opt for a small size drive say a 32GB or even a 16GB units. This would be fine for a large majority of the population as many only want the drive for their OS and important applications. A second option is to look at units geared toward the mainstream audience. This would be the class our second SSD review will fall in. The Apacer A7 Turbo advertise some really impressive write/read times that would appeal to the likes of more knowledgeable PC users like gamers, enthusiasts and semi-professional.

Verbatim Tuff N Tiny 8GB Flash Drive

User Rating: / 2PoorBest

tinyToday's review product turned the tables on her, though. With an excess of mirth, I watched her reaction to the Verbatim TUFF-'N'-TINY™ 8gig portable flash drive. Giggly as a school girl, she immediately laid claim to the drive. As you can see from the pictures, the TUFF-'N'-TINY is a diminutive flash drive, even pixie-like. This set her to fawning over it and laying out plans to keep it on one of her cherished stuff animals. Having already hatched my own nefarious schemes for the drive, I suddenly felt a bit like a selfish schoolboy, hesitant to share. Rarely will a piece of computer hardware invoke this sort of reaction in our house. However, looks are not everything. To get a good review from me, this Lilliputian flash drive will have to put forth decent numbers and live up to its claim of being tough.

Verbatim 8 GB Tuff-Clip Flash Drive

tuff clipOur lives come down to a succession of choices which inevitably lead us through our triumphs and failures. Not to discount random circumstance, clarity of purpose often ensures a more favorable outcome than cloudy half-formed goals listlessly pursued. I am willing to bet successful men and women are capable of narrowing down the sum of their lives to a few well-timed, ingenious decisions. However, the majority on the other side of the coin could list a litany of misfires, sins of omission and outright failures that led them down the wrong path.  A successful company can also be boiled down to correct choices made at the right time. When dealing with computer hardware manufacturers, the results are tangible, quality products. Like our individual lives, every product to hit the market is the culmination of decisions. Some are misfires and there are sins of omission and others are catastrophic failures. Today we're looking at the Verbatim 8 GB TUFF-CLIP, a great flash drive, showcasing what happens when a company makes all the right decisions.

OCZ Agility Series SATA II 2.5" 120GB SSD

User Rating: / 6PoorBest

OCZ AgilityOCZ is one of those companies who looks out for everyone. No matter if you are a hard core gamer with lots of money to buy extreme gear or a budget minded individual that has to make every dollar count, they have you in mind. With this way of thinking, OCZ have released several classes of solid state drives ranging from the Solid series to the Vertex EX. Our first review of a SSD will consist of a model from their mainstream line up: Agility. The Agility is based around a Indilinx controller backed by Elpida 64MB cache chip. These two components gives the Agility its performance numbers. What keeps the Agility a low cost alternative to other solid state drives with similar number is the inexpensive NAND modules used. But just how inexpensive is the Agility? Just how fast is the Agility? Read on and find out.

User Rating: / 2PoorBest

Card it allOur friends at Wintec have solved that problem with the new Card-It-All. The C.I.A. takes a single MicroSD card and fits it into adapters that can be used a multitude of devices. A Sony device…no problem. A Nikon digital camera…no problem.  Got a netbook that needs a little bit more storage…need no problem. The C.I.A. has it all covered. Wintec states all adapters meet the high capacity (HC) specifications.

Wintec Filemate SolidGo 48GB ExpressCard 34 Ultra SSD

User Rating: / 30PoorBest

overviewFor those who require fast data transfers, the ExpressCard 34 Ultra is a nice substitute for the usual flash drive. The Card offers tremendous speeds. In fact, we have never seen speed like this from a flash drive. How does an advertised 115MB/s read and 65MB/s write sound? Not too bad, when you need your data in a hurry. The ExpressCard 34 Ultra SSD could be the ultimate data storage, but what if you don't have a expresscard slot? The card comes with a mini USB jack to connect to any PC or MAC. Well, that's enough for an introduction. Lets take a closer look at the Filemate.

Super Talent 16GB Pico C Flash Drive

E-mail Print

Super Talent 16GB Pico C Flash DriveOur next Pico we will be reviewing is the Pico-C Nickel. Which like the Gold model is plated with the precious metal. The advantage the Nickel has over the Gold we reviewed is an additional 8 gigs of storage. Not only is the storage size a pretty amazing aspect of the Pico but its physical size is as well. The Pico weighs in at an incredible 6 grams. At this size the drive is a non factor while hanging around your neck on a necklace or on your key chain.

OCZ 8GB Throttle eSATA Flash Drive

OCZ 8GB Throttle eSATA Flash DriveWell, I guess we should be asking OCZ that question. It is funny that the minds of OCZ could come up with a twist on something so simple and common. The OCZ Throttle takes the newest and fastest port on the PC and makes it usable for small portable storage. You know the port we are talking about…eSATA. The Throttle is offered in sizes ranging from 8 gigs up to 32.

NZXT Hades Crafted Series Tower

Tuesday, 09 March 2010 05:50 Posted By Scott
nzxt hadesI want to thank NZXT for their generosity in sending me one of their crafted series mid-towers.  For our playtime today, we have the Hades, a 9 bay mid-tower full of premium goodies directed at the PC enthusiast crowd.  I have been looking forward to reviewing NZXT products for quite a while.  I keep an eye on the forums of several different sites and have a few friends who also review items and I have never heard anything but great reviews being directed at NZXT.  Always makes me wonder what I could be missing out on.  So when my boss told me to look out for a couple of their cases that were headed my way, I could not help but check frequently for packages on my door step.  A few things jumped out at me as I opened the box and got a look at the Hades. I am not going to tell you what they were now. You will just have to read about it below.

Coolermaster GX 750 Power Supply

Monday, 08 March 2010 08:05 Posted By Tony Walker
coolermaster gx 750Coolermaster realized this and came out with the new GX series of power units. As of this writing, the series consists of three units: 550W, 650W and 750W. The power range is not extreme at all, but the most sought after sweet spot. The entire line-up features a single 12 volt rail, which aims it at individuals needing the most stable power when using dual GPU setups. The largest of the three is Nvidia SLI certified. If you are not interested in the multiple graphic setups, but want great efficiency; well the GX has it as well with the 85% mark on all three units. We will take a short look at the new power supply to see what it has to offer.

Ubisoft DRM Cracked

Saturday, 06 March 2010 21:02 Posted By Clinton

"GAMES PUBLISHER Ubisoft was left with egg on its face after its pitiful attempt at digital rights management was cracked within 24 hours.

Ubisoft managed to generate a storm when it announced its latest DRM policy last week. With previous attempts to protect against so-called 'piracy' failing miserably, Ubisoft thought that by disallowing offline play it could persuade gamers to toe the line."

NVIDIA Drivers Can Kill Your GPU

Saturday, 06 March 2010 14:17 Posted By Clinton

From HardOCP:

"It seems that NVIDIA has pulled its 196.75 drivers because of overheating issues. Apparently there has been a rash of complaints about dead, dying and overheating video cards. The problem seems to be the fan controller in the 196.75 drivers, no word from NVIDIA on the matter yet."
