The one thing that some may find not to their liking will be the appearance of the Aerocool Strike X 800W power supply. But to be honestly I think it looks better in person than it does in pictures on the web. The whole “X” is done in moderation when it could easily have been taken over the top. The large “X” surrounding the grill of the fan is a nice gaming touch. And the color combination is well suited for many of the components on the market.
In the time we spent with the unit we find it was more than stable on our test bench rather it was running stock or overclocked. The readings from the DMM were well within range of being reasonable for any moderate gaming rig.
The modular aspect of the unit is another good reason to consider this power supply. It isn’t 100% modular as the main connections that will have to be used in a gaming rig are permanent. And the amount of connections is pretty adequate as it support double GPUs with its four PCIe connections and several HDDs with its eight SATA connectors.
At a price range between $115 and $130, we have to say not too bad of a price especially if you want to continue with the whole black and red theme. But there are many units to pick from in the same range from other respectable companies. So, the choice maybe a little difficult.
