Thermaltake V9
Thermaltake recently had incredible success with their version of this type of case which is called the M9. The M9 was a very good looking case and was a favorite here at Pro-Clockers. But just recently Thermaltake released a press release announcing their new case called the V9. Both cases have their similarities as well as their differences. One difference is the windowed side panel and a very large top mounted fan on the newer V9.

Foxconn Digitalife EFA
Foxconn is back at it with another motherboard that was shown at CES last year. Since the days of CES of 2008 many people have been on the look out for the ELA. The ELA is a new level of motherboard that is aimed at the digital media buff. How does triple PCIe slots, tons of storage options and various digital audio prospects the board looks to be a beast. But it looks that Foxconn has not forgotten about the overclockers out there neither. The board offers support for a front bus up to 1600MHz for the Intel CPU, a wide range of voltage settings and solid capacitors for stability. We will look to see if the ELA is close to offering what the BlackOps has even if it isn't one hundred percent aimed at the crowd.

NZXT Rogue SFF Case
The Rogue is high-end SFF case that is built of thick sheets of aluminum and can support large processor heatsinks and longer video cards. These are some things that we have never heard of when it some to such small cases. And if that isn't enough it can also hold a standard size power supply which is needed to support that overclocking motherboard and gaming GPU. It seems this is a great time to pick up a small form factor case.

Asrock K10N78-1394
The K10N78-1394 is a full sized motherboard built around the 8200 chipset. It isn't too common to see a full sized motherboard with built on graphics. Well, you are looking at one now. Asrock realized that most people that want a home theatre motherboard would opt for a mATX board. And that is who the board is aimed at. But there is another crowd the board would like to take aim at and that would be the gamers also. Chances are not many gamers will fall for a small form factor motherboard. The K10N78-1394 goes the best of both worlds.

Asrock G43Twins-FullHD Micro ATX
Asrock's newest micro ATX board is based on the Intel's mainstream P43 chipset. Personally, this is the first small form factor that I have seen with the newer North Bridge. If you are in need of a motherboard that supports all the new Intel processors or in need of a motherboard that can support a large screen display without the use of a dedicated video card then the G43Twins-FullHD maybe up your alley. And to help support that large screen is 352MB of shared goodness. Take a look into the review to see if its the board for you.

NFLPA conspired with EA to cheat retired players
"EA Sports makes what can only be described as mountains of money from the Madden NFL series. An update is released for every console platform on a yearly basis, and the title continually sells in the millions. Now retired NFL players are coming forward with lawsuits claiming EA isn't giving them the money they deserve for the use of their likeness and career information, and according to some damning internal communication, it appears as if the the NFL Players Association intentionally brokered a lower-than-market-value deal for retired players as a favor to the gaming giant."

An ISP which was ordered by a court to stop illegal file-sharing on its network, says it simply can not. The Belgian ISP Scarlet says the court’s verdict is unworkable and after trying to slow traffic and also filter it, it says it’s not possible to stop the flow of illicit files since Audible Magic doesn’t work.

Spore SecuROM copy protection system draws lawsuit
Despite Electronic Arts' good-faith effort last week to relax copyright restrictions in Spore, gamers aren't buying it — the digital constraint tactic, that is. The game, on the other hand, is selling faster than you can evolve a virtual amoeba.
Spore has already sold a million copies since hitting stores earlier this month, but critics of the game's digital rights management have been vehement, bringing their protests to Amazon.com reviews, message boards, blogs and now federal court.

OCZ Technology Introduces the HydroFlow CPU Waterblock
"The HydroFlow HF-MK1 targets the highest possible thermal exchange rate between a solid body and the surrounding fluid, while maintaining enough cross sectional area for superior thermal conductance within the fin structure,” commented Dr. Michael Schuette, V.P. of Technology Development at OCZ Technology. "Additionally, the relieved contact area concentrates the pressure on the actual die area of any processor, thereby minimizing the thermal interface material-induced loss in heat dissipation. In short, the HydroFlow epitomizes the recent advances in fluid cooling at an affordable price.”

Did 'Spore' copy protections backfire on EA?
After years of anticipation, the coming out party for Electronic Arts' new evolution game Spore seems to be getting rained out.
Spore was one of the most highly-anticipated games in recent years, in part because it's the brainchild of Will Wright who, with The Sims, turned simple tasks like taking virtual trips to the bathroom into the best-selling PC game ever. Fans and EA alike had high hopes for Spore, a similarly quirky game that's based on evolutionary biology and individuals' own creature creations.
Don't just read the article . Read the responses. People are about reaching the saturation point. |

Kudos to Stardock
It's easy to demonize companies like EA for basically raping fair use. The web is full of soap boxers tirading about Spore's 3 strikes activation system even as I type this. However, there are companies willing to trust the people who pay their salaries enough not to insult them with tyrant-like protection schemes. With the posting of their "Gamer's Bill of Rights," Stardock has given me hope for the future of PC gaming. If just one game company is moved by this, perhaps it could cause a chain reaction in the industry.
