Kingwin Dock Master 3.0 Hard Drive Dock

E-mail Print
User Rating: / 2PoorBest
Today, we get to take a look at a new USB 3.0 peripheral from another great company, the Kingwin DM-2535U3 hard drive dock or the Dock Master. I personally am a big fan of the dock over the enclosure as they are easier to manage. There is no assemblage. Simply insert drive and format. Now I get to do this with a faster dock than my present Thermaltake BlacX Duet.

Eagletech ET-CSMDSU2-BK Dual Bay SATA to USB EnclosureToday, we get the chance to examine their latest hard drive in the Eagletech ET-CSMDSU2-BK. The new enclosure works pretty much the same as the JBOD enclosure in the earlier part of this introduction but sports a better and more functional design. But what we like most about it is that it is completely tool-less. No needs for tools or long assembly processes. Just insert your two drives of any size but needs to be SATA and connect it to any open USB 2.0 port. Done and finish. Time to take a closer look at the new JBOD enclosure from Eagletech.

Vantec NexStar 3 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 EnclosureVantec being the leader in external enclosures has offered to allow us a first hand look at their new enclosure from the NexStar line entitled SuperSpeed. The NexStar enclosure was one the first to offer great looks without comprising performance. Characterisics to the box has always been the shiny exterior layer, upright stance and the growing blue Vantec logo. But is the USB 3.0 hype worth it? We hope after this review we will have answered this question.

Silverstone DS221 Dual HDD Raid Enclosure

User Rating: / 1PoorBest
Silverstone ds221So my most reasonable option would be to build my on drive enclosure. This way I can pick whatever enclosure style I like. And I can load the enclosure with any drive I want. Yeah....I like this option better. Silverstone has a new enclosure that will help me accomplish my goal. The new DS221 dual 2.5" drive enclosure is a stylish unit that can house two laptop size drives that can be insert without having to tear apart the box. And if that doesn't get you excitement level up how does it support for RAID 0, 1 and even JBOD.

Thermaltake BlacX Duet Dual HDD Docking Station

Thermaltake BlacX DuetAre you a computer repair person, a network technician or how about a person with just a whole lot of hard drives laying around the house? If you are any of these individuals, our next review subject is just what you need. The Thermaltake BlacX Duet is a must have on your work bench. There are many hard drive docking stations out there. Visit any large computer store and you will see just what I mean. The Duet has one major advantage over the rest, dual opening for hard drives. Great for those that need to browse several drives or simply transfer data from one drive to another. Thermaltake started the whole docking station thing, but today they have taken it a step farther.

Synology DS209This is the age of digital media and mass storage. Digital downloading is present in many homes via sites like iTunes and Rhapsody. Many people have digital cameras and high definition video cameras. We need massive storage capacities in order to save the large formats raw or in jpeg. Let's not forget about the large amounts of space these video camera video files can take up. You're going to need a place to keep all that data. That device is the Synology DS209 which we will be reviewing next.

NZXT Hades Crafted Series Tower

Tuesday, 09 March 2010 05:50 Posted By Scott
nzxt hadesI want to thank NZXT for their generosity in sending me one of their crafted series mid-towers.  For our playtime today, we have the Hades, a 9 bay mid-tower full of premium goodies directed at the PC enthusiast crowd.  I have been looking forward to reviewing NZXT products for quite a while.  I keep an eye on the forums of several different sites and have a few friends who also review items and I have never heard anything but great reviews being directed at NZXT.  Always makes me wonder what I could be missing out on.  So when my boss told me to look out for a couple of their cases that were headed my way, I could not help but check frequently for packages on my door step.  A few things jumped out at me as I opened the box and got a look at the Hades. I am not going to tell you what they were now. You will just have to read about it below.

Coolermaster GX 750 Power Supply

Monday, 08 March 2010 08:05 Posted By Tony Walker
coolermaster gx 750Coolermaster realized this and came out with the new GX series of power units. As of this writing, the series consists of three units: 550W, 650W and 750W. The power range is not extreme at all, but the most sought after sweet spot. The entire line-up features a single 12 volt rail, which aims it at individuals needing the most stable power when using dual GPU setups. The largest of the three is Nvidia SLI certified. If you are not interested in the multiple graphic setups, but want great efficiency; well the GX has it as well with the 85% mark on all three units. We will take a short look at the new power supply to see what it has to offer.

Ubisoft DRM Cracked

Saturday, 06 March 2010 21:02 Posted By Clinton

"GAMES PUBLISHER Ubisoft was left with egg on its face after its pitiful attempt at digital rights management was cracked within 24 hours.

Ubisoft managed to generate a storm when it announced its latest DRM policy last week. With previous attempts to protect against so-called 'piracy' failing miserably, Ubisoft thought that by disallowing offline play it could persuade gamers to toe the line."

NVIDIA Drivers Can Kill Your GPU

Saturday, 06 March 2010 14:17 Posted By Clinton

From HardOCP:

"It seems that NVIDIA has pulled its 196.75 drivers because of overheating issues. Apparently there has been a rash of complaints about dead, dying and overheating video cards. The problem seems to be the fan controller in the 196.75 drivers, no word from NVIDIA on the matter yet."
