Closer look

From the looks of it, the Buffalo looks to be Evercool's idea of a mid-range cooler. The cooler offers better than stock performance at a decent price. If you travel over to Evercool's website, you will see there are a couple of Buffalo models. Each is geared toward a specific socket. Ours is geared to the socket 1366 from Intel. If you are still using a socket 775 and AMD motherboard, you would have to use the I or A models, respectfully.

The cooler is a tower design with fins attached to two copper heat pipes. One of the first things that I saw in the Buffalo that I like is they seem to use a thicker diameter heat pipe compared to some of the other guys. Such a large heat pipe in a mid-range priced cooler is unheard of. All of this adds up to 500 grams of weight being applied to the motherboard.

The fan used on the Buffalo is awesome looking. The red fan blades with black trim would look beautiful on some of the black-themed motherboards we have seen. The fan is 100x100x25 mm, but is not PWM controlled.  with this in mind, you will see constant 1800 RPM out of it. Evercool wants the Buffalo reputation to be of near silence, so the fan maximum dBA level is 23.

We can't call the base of the Buffalo a mirror finish as it is far from it. There are many lines from the machining process.
